Copyright laws?

So i want to make my own designs based off on another company's creations. i.e. a t-shirt but with a image of a game character that i drew myself.

Can i sell that ? Would it be illegal? Would i be safe if i put the company's name on it like: character design copyrighted to "company name" ?
Answers:
You would probably have to get permission from the copyright holder. Best to ask a lawyer
I'm not sure of your question - if you are asking whether the basic blank T shirt is copyright, no, that is considered a raw material if you are in the T shirt printing industry

If you are saying you want to start with a copyrighted character and then modify it to make your own, then no, that would be a derivitive work, and would be illegal.
