Do states attorneys typically handle federal crimes?

Okay, so to keep it short.. If someone is charges with a crime that is a federal crime but not a specific state crime, does a states attorney typically handle the prosecution?
Crime at mention is theft/scheme $500+... and MD is the state where the SA is attempting to prosecute.
Thank you for any help on this one.
Answers:
Federal crimes are always prosecuted by a prosecutor from the federal attorney general's office in that region, no matter what state.
it can happen if they are try ing to make an example out of you...
The U.S. Attorneys have jurisdiction, not the state - it will be up to the regional field office to prosecute the crime.
