Do Emancipation Laws even matter? (North Carolina Laws)?

Okay, anyone with any additional information about the North Carolina emancipation laws, feel free to give more information.

However, this may be a stupid question, but i'm just making sure. The situation is, the child is about to turn 18 and is unhappy with his family and wants to move out. Isn't it true that once you hit 18, you can move out and live on your own IF AND ONLY IF you are financially stable and know where you're going to go, what you are going to do. Please, just give me background information on this. Even if they are 18, they belong to the state or something like that and they can pretty much leave if they want. Is that true or false?

Answers are all appreciated. Thank you and if you have any links, those are appreciated too.
Answers:
HE CAN MOVE OUT IF HE WANTS THE PARENTS ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS
At 18 you can leave home even if you have no money at all, nowhere to go, and you will be sleeping in your car (although I wouldn’t recommend it). You do not “belong to the state”. You are an adult who is fully responsible for yourself.
Once you reach the age of majority (18) you are a legal adult! You may leave the home of your parents or guardian at nay time ther eis no law to keep you there.
